Marathon, by Hal Higdon
Great how-to book for beginners who want to run a marathon. Hopefully I'll actually put this advice to use in 2008!
Daughter of Fortune, by Isabel Allende
Historical fiction set in Chile and California during the Gold Rush. A little cheesy, but highly enjoyable, and an excellent translation, to boot -- you wouldn't know from reading this that the author writes in Spanish exclusively.
The Tenth Circle, by Jodi Picoult
A little less Lifetime movie-of-the-week than the author's other books. I really liked the graphic novel aspect.
Deluxe: How Luxury Lost Its Luster, by Dana Thomas
An overview of how luxury brands became brands managed by corporations and went from exclusivity to mass-market in the quest for profits. Really interesting, and has definitely given me some food for thought into how much more I'll buy into it all.
So close to 30 books, and yet, so far. Perhaps next year?
