The whole argument over saying "Merry Christmas" is stupid. If I know the person celebrates Christmas (whether secular or religious), I'll say it, but if I'm not sure, I'll say "Happy Holidays." I don't get why it has to be such a big deal.

I thought they changed "gay" to "bright" in "Deck the Halls." I've heard some more modern versions using that at least. Kids are immature.

That's exactly what this teacher changed it to, and the parents were furious. It basically reinforces the idea that "gay" = bad and that maybe the kids were right to be snickering about it.

Because of the outcry, it was changed back.

That was a horrible ad. I can understand not being comfortable or fully understanding of homosexuality but that was just mean spirited.

I'm sure it's what he really believes and what he thinks will will him that fundamentalist Christian vote.

Because, hey, the economy and foreign policy aren't important.

~For the record, I don't care if you say "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays." I will take it in the spirit it is intended~

Ditto...

~a teacher (I can't remember where) took the word "gay" out of "Deck the Halls."~

Maybe we should all take a cue from Frosty the Snowman and just say, "Happy Birthday!"
