a day of septogenerians

Today we did a lot of touristy things -- Little Tokyo, the Japanese-American National Museum, Hollywood Boulevard, driving through Beverly Hills...

I touched an 8-ish? (BIG!) pound koi.

A 70+ year old man asked me if I have a boyfriend. (.__.;

I am not complaining because I haven't had to pay for a single meal since leaving Japan, but the people who are guiding us around are crazy or stupid (or both).

My boss (#3) has never been to the American mainland before. EVERY meal we have eaten so far has been at a Japanese restaurant, with the exception of the one Chinese restaurant. DUDE. ALL WE HAVE IN RURAL JAPAN IS JAPANESE (AND CHINESE AND KOREAN) RESTAURANTS. WHY WOULD YOU NOT INVITE HIM TO TRY SOMETHING DISTINCTLY REGIONAL? WHY? WHY?????

I want to say it SO BADLY but I know it's not my place. IT SHOULD BE OBVIOUS THOUGH. THAT IS RULE #1 IN HOSTING FOREIGN GUESTS FOR DUMMIES.

fail, travel, work, food, rants
