Today my Japanese Law and Government professor spontaneously invited my class to dinner afterwards. Only 4 of us went, and at first I was sorely regretting the decision, but the food was deliciousss ♪
It was really awkward though... not so much while the professor was there but... (she kind of freaks me out sometimes, too, though, because she just stares at people...)
As soon as everyone was done with dessert and got tea/coffee, the professor paid the bill and left. My four classmates and I stared at each other. It was really awkward to just drink in silence so I started asking questions and talking and whatnot and that would go on and die down, and then no one would say anything so I would say something again... and so on.
After a while everyone was done drinking everything, pretty much, and just looking down in silence. This continued for maybe 5 minutes when I was finally like, "So, should we go?" And they were all like YES YES LET'S GO.
....why do you not speak.
It was nice, though, to get to talk to a new set of people. I had fun. It starts to get kind of amusing to watch others squirm.
