Teignmouth

My sister recently got into this artist called Patrick Wolf, who sings kinda folksy kinda mystical songs that are full of poetry and beautiful imagery. And they sound incredible.

She gave me a copy of his album 'Wind in the Wires' and it's amazing. These are the lyrics to my favourite song on it.

Teignmouth

On the night train
From the city to the south
I saw spirits
Crawl across the river mouth
In skewed ascension
With no destination
Like this lone bachelor in me
This constant yearning
For great love and learning
For the wind to carry me free

So when the birds fly south
I'll reach up and hold their tails
Pull up and out of here
And bridle the autumn gales
Down to the burning cliffs
To the everlasting roll
To marry the untold blisses
And anchor this lost soul

From my window
I saw two birds lost at sea
I caught our reflection
In that silent tragedy
But with hope prevailing
I draw galleons sailing
In full sail billowing free

So when the birds fly south
We'll reach up and hold their tails
Pull up and out of here
And bridle the autumn gales
I give you my hand
The fingers unfold
To have and forever hold
To marry the untold blisses
And anchor this lost soul

It's raining summer rain over here and the air is freshening up. I love the daytime sunshine and heat and the evening rain. Such a nice combination. I like how peaceful it makes the garden feel ... I like how peaceful the garden is in general. So green and full of life, tucked away behind a wooden fence on the corner of our road.

I like having two homes. Lancaster, when I'm there, is a sort of home, and here is home more than anything.

There's that smell that always comes with the rain coming through my open back door as the sky starts to grow dark. Summer, what a season.
