Antho sale - and one I'm especially proud of

Nov 29, 2010 11:49

As I've mentioned here and elsewhere, people are just people, and making a big fuss about someone's identity shows that you are living in the past century (this goes for both the PC mind police and the bigoted morons out there - two very similar sides of the same outdated coin).

So when an antho call came up for stories with GBLT characters, I didn't think twice about it and sent in a story.  I'm glad to announce that my tale "Spread of the Kobold's Wings" has been accepted by the antho entitled Rockets, Swords and Rainbows: New Stories of Fantasy.  What I like about this tale is that it isn't preachy and isn't PC.  It just treats the gay character like it would any other character - like a person with hopes, dreams and everything else (the character is a Kobold, but I won't give any other spoilers here).

I truly believe that "people are people" is the only attitude that will continue to keep "identity" politics firmly buried in the past, where it belongs.  And I love the fact that this kind of antho is getting published, because, within "people are people", it celebrates the differences.  Looking forward to reading my contributor's copy and seeing what everyone else came up with!

Writing:  a little over 1000 words into The Malakiad - should be done in the next week or so.  I am deeply excited!
