2010 has been a huge year for me. I've already spoken about my first (mostly reprint) collection,
Tenth Orbit and Other Faraway Places, released in October (and don't forget to participate in the
contest to win a free, signed paperback).
Now, though, my first novel has been released.
Daverana Enterprises has just announced that
The Curse of El Bastardo is available for purchase . This one is a novel about love, teen angst, fire insurance and penguins with a bit of magic realism thrown in for good measure (MR is mandatory for Latin American writers), and is likely the best thing I've ever written (so far!). I'm extremely proud of this one, and suspect that, if I'm remembered for anything, it will be this book.
I also want to thank Steven Beeho (my most excellent editor on this project) for writing a brilliant introduction which made me laugh - but which also made me realize that I'd managed to do what I set out to do with this one. Go on, have a look at the link - and I've also placed the cover (I love the cover illo, BTW) below the cut.
I can only hope that the next few years treat me as well as this one has.
Oh, and there will be a contest, soon. Still haven't figured out what form it will take, though.
Writing: 1450 words into The Malakiad. It's nearly finished. A couple more days!
