Last Thursday I went to work. When I arrived I discovered that my boss was sick. He is a workaholic. He sat right next to me gakking his brains out. I scolded him on passing me his germs. He said that I wouldn't catch it. I thanked him for his concern. (I also knew that the Tuesday before I had tea with my grandmother and grandfather who was sick with this strange flu.) If I catch this thing it is Bossman's fault, he was coughing in my face.
Well, I do have a touch of it but I am Typhoid Mary instead. By spending time with my grandfather I must have started building my immune system to these germs. When I went to work Bossman gave me more contact with it. Since my immune system was already fighting it, I haven't full blown developed it. Husband did last night. He caught it from me. He woke up this morning like a dead man walking. He mumbled that he was sick and still going to work. (He is another generous type.) I will admit that I have some pressure in my head but other than that I am functional. Husband isn't so fortunate. Presently, he is passed out on the couch.
Early this morning I took a trip to the grocery store for fresh fruit and juices. I purchased some chicken thighs and leeks for dinner this evening. I am making chicken soup for the two of us. When one is sick, there is nothing like chicken soup and a warm blanket. I chopped up some onion, garlic, celery and the leeks. Fried them in a dutch oven with butter. Browned the chicken breasts. Sprinkle 3 Tablespoons of flour over chicken. Poured in 2 cans of chicken broth. Stir well scrapping brown bits off of the bottom of pot. Sprinkled some thyme, parsley and salt. Cooked for 2 hours. Removed chicken and deboned it. Stirred in the potatoes, carrots and boneless chicken. Added more salt for flavor. Cooked some bowtie pasta on the side. Pour chicken vegetable soup over cooked pasta. Dinner is served. For an extra treat, served warmed biscuits on the side.
I just had a delivery of chopped fire wood for the wood stove. Gotta make the place warm and cozy. Dinner is done. I going to have a nice meal with the husband and snuggle with a blanket.
Bright Blessings.........................Bogomils
