A Second Dose of Chicken Soup

Last night I received a phone call from my mother. She called my grandmother to catch up with her. My grandfather answered the phone and informed my mother that my grandmother was sick. She had been bedridden for 4 days. She refuses to go to the doctor or the hospital. She has this strange flu that is going around. What bothers me is that my grandmother never called me. She calls me to ask for directions on how to use her microwave oven, why her bread maker shakes during the kneading cycle, to talk about her latest medical issues but she didn't call me for this. My grandmother's excuse was that she was too sick to call. I was planning on visiting her today anyway but this made me going over there more of a priority. I called her first thing this morning. Asked her what does she need and went to the grocery store to pick up said items. When I arrived at her home by noon, she looked frail. She proceeded to tell me about her bowel movements or should I say lack of. (joy!) I made sure to bring some Phillips-Milk of Magnesium, half of the chicken soup I made yesterday and a few other random items to help bring her comfort. She was tickled pink over the Puffs w/lotion but the key lime pie really made her day. I stayed for a while to make sure she was alright. She said today was the first real day of her recovery and proceeded to tell me about her phlegm. (joy) Trust me folks, there is nothing like your grandmother talking about her bodily fluids but the real topper is when she talks about my grandfather's prostate like chatting about potato chips. Too Much Information. She is such a corker.

When I returned home, Husband was on his computer. This is a positive sign. Last night he crashed on the couch and that was the end of the evening. I haven't seen him this knocked out from a bug since his bout with food poisoning. I am still convinced that I am Typhoid Mary. I have been exposed to this bug enough that my own body is fighting it with a sledge hammer. May the sledge hammer win.

I made some home made chicken and rice soup laden with chopped up vegetables. With two nights of soup, he should be well enough to go to work tomorrow. I also decided that I needed yellow cake with chocolate frosting. Screw the world, I am eating cake tonight. The frosting came out perfect bordering on the consistency of fudge. My cup of tea will not be alone tonight. I am rewarded in life with the sweetness of chocolate. Life is good.

I am getting tired. I guess I will crash early so that I will feel refreshed when I travel to work tomorrow.

Bright Blessings...............Bogomils

P.S. I think I am going to go sage the house now. If that doesn't clear out the Husband's sinuses then nothing will. (Or at least awaken him from his slumber.)
