1. Easter approaches. This year, I'm just sewing for the girls--I'd rather sew
rainfletcher a Ren Faire outfit if I'm going to sew for him. I picked up some very cute dragon fabric a few months ago. Today I bought some additional fabric in solid yellow and in a light blue starry pattern to supplement. Both girls will get a
hat; both will have dragons on one side, and one will be yellow on the reverse while the other has stars. Ivy gets a
pillowcase dress made of the dragons and bloomers made of one (or both!) of the contrast fabrics. Maggie gets a
puffy-sleeved dress, possibly with a ruffle on the bottom edge in one of the contrast fabrics. She said she wanted her dress to be ankle length, so I'll see if I can manage that with the fabric available.
2. Faire also approaches. I'm still working on the corded effigy corset I started like three years ago (and, like a dope, I forgot to pick up some linen to bind the edges while I was at JoAnn's). I doubt Ivy will still fit in her dress. And Rain still is garbless. Time to kick it into gear.
3. I've really been enjoying leading Maggie's Daisy troop. The girls are all great and it's definitely rewarding to be a role model to them. Some of the ones who were epically shy at first are starting to open up and get comfortable. And wow, did they ever kick butt selling cookies!
4. In the aftermath of poor Goliath's death, Maggie's been thinking about mortality. Somehow, she got the idea that the only reason people die is if they are electrocuted. "I'm neva goin' to die. If I have somethin' electric dat I'm takin to school for sharing, and it's raining, I'll bring somefin' else instead." Good plan, Mags.
5. American Idol. Very lackluster this year. Still watching anyway.
6. On Wednesday Ivy was looking at our shadows as we walked home from school. She was very distressed when they went away because the sun went behind a cloud. And then they came back! Hooray! And then yesterday she pointed out my shadow and her shadow..."where is Sis' shadow?" I asked. She answered "In she's cwass-woom." Which is pretty darn brilliant, I think.
