Easter: Finished our outfits in plenty of time. Maggie got a dress and a hat. Ivy, a dress, hat, and bloomers. I made myself a skirt and embellished a t-shirt. and
rainfletcher got an embellished t-shirt. Many compliments at church (where there was a fun egg hunt) and at Mary's (where there was an even better egg hunt). Hopefully pictures soon. (Did I ever post pictures from last Easter? Don't think so.)
Then two days after Easter we went to Disneyland. We didn't tell Maggie where we were going and the excited tone of her voice when she said, "that sign says DISNEYLAND. Are we going to DISNEYLAND?!" was well worth it. Lovely, but long and tiring day. Maggie went on Splash Mountain (it scared her but she also loved it) and on Big Thunder Mountain twice.
We periodically get "surveys" from right-leaning groups--notably Mike Huckabee wanting our opinions about abortion. Well, Huck must've sold his call list to the National Organization for Marriage. It's a recording, and the first question they asked was "do you believe that marriage between one man and one woman should be legal?" Note the absence of the word "only." Well, I DO believe that marriage between one man and one woman should be legal--I'm involved in such a marriage, and I like it. I also believe that marriage between two men should be legal, as should marriage between two women. I answered "yes" to the first question, assuming that there would be followup questions...but no. Apparently NOM thinks that if you think straight marriage should be legal, you think ONLY straight marriage should be legal. And would you like to contribute money to "defend Traditional Marriage"? HELL NO. No chance to back up and change my answer either. Very frustrating, especially since they'll be putting my data point in the column for bigotry and hatred.
Gotta go pick up M from school now. Did I mention she can READ now? Yay!
