I've come to the conclusion that 90% of the replacements for make(1) are written by people who don't understand make(1).

So, I dumped my last Solaris system. I am now 100% BSD.

No, this is funny to me, because I seem to remember a proposal for quite the opposite: there was a campaign (well, it's the internet, so any group of people constitutes a “campaign”) to introduce a new symbol whose value would be π/2. So, it's been a month now that I've been using ASDF 2. To be honest, I also switched from SBCL to LispWorks as my primary platform at the same time (I still run them both). I say that only in "full disclosure", I don't think one colored my impression of the other at all ( Read more... )Heh.
Today, I learned how to deliver turn-key (self-contained binaries with no run-time licenses or dreck like that) applications from LispWorks. I'm doing this under FreeBSD, but the big win here is that I can deliver the exact same thing for Windows and OS X.
