So, I've tried to find out how safe the tap water is here and have come up with both "safe" and "not safe" answers.  I may have to ask, but I don't want to seem like an American wimp...

=) I'm used to buying bits and pieces of food, so you get fresh stuff from the market when it's gone. I never got the whole "shove-my-fridge-with-as-much-as-it-can-hold" mentality too much. =P My fridge is pretty bare.
