I feel like taking off . . .

I'm feeling a bit antsy this week. It could be because I can feel spring coming on and that generally makes me a bit restless. It could be because this is our last confirmed week of classes (we *might* have some after spring holiday). It could be the uncertain nature of both my personal and professional lives. Who knows.

The spring bit I'm happy to embrace. Spring has always been my favorite season. This evening on the way to tech for "Teechers" I could smell the earth and the plants in a way that you can only when everything is starting to wake up and grow again. I love that smell even though I suspect that some of the contributors have something to do with my faint allergies.

Providing I have enough funds, I'm thinking of jumping down to Croatia or Slovenia or somewhere thereabouts in a few weeks. Perhaps that'll help with my nervous energy.

Looking at longer term plans, I'm trying to decide where I'm going to live and work come September. As much as I miss everyone, I'm very sure about my decision not to move back to the Seattle area at this point. I've started to browse jobs a bit and even found one I liked in London. It's a split assistant-ship between an education/outreach department and a literary department in a theatre. Unfortunately, if they're advertising at this point, they're probably looking for someone to start in May, so I'm not going to bother applying. It's comforting to know, though, that jobs do exist that I would enjoy, could make a living at, and that I would be qualified for.

More and more, I'm thinking I should probably get a job in the US, Canada, or the UK for a couple years to build up experience. Understandably, programs in other countries want to employ local people as much as possible. Therefore, unless you have a substantial amount of experience (or the funds to not be paid) it's difficult to land a job with those programs. I think that makes sense and is actually very responsible.

I'm not sure where I meant to go with this post. Just thinking "out loud" I guess. Hope spring is creeping up on all you people back home too. ( :
