So Halloween night, I answer the door holding Scooter so he doesn't escape. Upon opening up the door, the 2- or 3-year-old girl's eyes light up because she thinks I'm giving her a cat. Chloe bends down with the candy bowl and asks, "Would you like to pick one." The little girl doesn't hesitate for a second and is dead serious when she says, pointing, "The kitty!"
After her mother helps us to make it clear that we're not giving away pets, she resigns herself to candy, reaching out with both arms for Chloe to give her the whole bowl.
