I saw the dentist today.
The short version: I have gingivitis, and one spot of periodontal disease (bottom front tooth).
The good news: It's all manageable and I think mostly reversable, *except* for that one spot, but that tooth is not in terrible shape considering, so I think it'll be okay.
She did something to the lower right section of my mouth today - deep scaling, I think? Or planing? I'm not entirely certain. Numbed me to heck and gone with Novocaine, and I've never been so tense in the dental chair, and I don't even know why. I was fine with getting cavities filled! But. edited to add:
Scaling and root planing, that's what she did.
I have to go back to get the other three parts of my mouth done, and I'm going tomorrow (*sigh*) to get the whole left half done.
At home, I have to brush with the sonicare and use this mouth rinse twice a day, but I have to use a regular toothbrush on the lower front teeth because of the decayed one.
This is the first time in my life I've ever asked for nitrous oxide for any kind of dental procedure, but I cannot face tomorrow without it, not after today. Fortunately, the hygienist was all for it.
Now I have a headache and half my mouth is numb. I'm going to attempt to eat something. Wish me luck.
