yes, I have one...

In a time so long ago in the history of the Web, every prepubescent male teenager signed up on GeoCities (affectionately named GeoShitties at the time) and Angelfire to make their rendition of "TEH WORLD'S BEST WEBSITE EVAR!" complete with badly tiled backgrounds, countless animated GIFs and annoying MIDIs playing on page load. As an aside, I was guilty as charged on the last count, I was obsessed with Sonic & Knuckles so I had the Doomsday Theme playing in the background of my then-web page. The novelty wore off for most people and for a while, the future looked promising because of countless free web site providers wiping off old members who happened to be kids that neglect their webspace. A general realization spread that web sites are created for actual use by human beings looking for information, not to show your friend across the street your impressive animated GIF library. All was fair in the grand expanse of the World Wide Web.

In 2003, that was all about to be changed. MySpace was then created, and set back the Web around 7 years (which by Internet standards is equivalent to a millenia). Not only did every male teenager possess one with random videos and music for the enjoyment of those who wish to view their profiles, but many teenage girls seem to have made archaeological discoveries of the web of yore, filling their profiles will so many animated GIFs, it will make your computer crash, even if you have a gig of RAM and a 2 GHz processor.

I don't know the point of this post really, but I suppose now would be a good time to reveal that I gave in to all the peer pressure and I possess a MySpace profile. I registered an account out of curiosity of finding old friends, but I figured that I might as well create a profile while I was at it. Might as well have the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse come down and rain doom upon us all, it's a sign.
