Oh god. So, my lovely boyfriend got me a ring for Christmas. (Not that kind of ring.) A pearl ring. (It's soooo pretty.) And I love it to death, but the downside to it is...I am constantly banging my hand against things and I immediately go, "AHH OMG IS THE RING OK?" For example, what brought this little story on, I went to put my hand on the computer mouse, which is situated on a slightly lower level shelf-type thing in the computer desk. So there's the main desk with the keyboard and monitor and then maybe six inches under that is where the mouse goes. So what do I do when I move my hand under there? (It's gotten pushed back too far.) Bang the ring on the main desk. I'm glad I got the insurance on it because...I fear for this pearl's life. Thing is just gonna get knocked off one day. (I have a fear of solitaire engagement rings for the same reason. They just look so fragile!)
So in real life news, I'm feeling pretty good today. I had one class today with my good friend Danita, and afterward we went to the gym and worked out for an hour. We didn't do anything all too strenuous really but...I'm really, really out of shape so I'm taking it slow. We did the eliptical for five minutes, brisk walk around the track a couple times and a ton of arm exercises. I know I'm going to hurt tomorrow but...totally worth it. I feel good about myself. All those endorphins running around my system. :)
On the crafting front, I decided to take a few pictures of my hat and post them, because I'm quite proud of myself. I used the tutorial from Threadbanger,
here.
The whole thing is done in single crochet, and it's worked in a continuous spiral. It came out a little...I don't want to say pointy but...you can tell where the increases were. I don't mind; I still wear it all the time. I actually like of like the swirly look it gives it when you look at it from the top. Like the first picture. (The top sort of caved in for the picture.)
Here's the view of the bottom/inside. Just for comparative purposes I suppose.
I got a little creative in order to show it off. Resting on one of my vases. I turned it inside out in this shot because I like the way you can see the stitches and it's all ribbed and spiral-y. I am not opposed to wearing it like this, which I'm sure is a huge no-no but...c'est la vie. I like it.
A shot from the front, a general idea of how it's supposed to sit. Ignore the ghetto plastic on the windows. Boyfriend did it way half-assed.
Finally, worn by an actual person! Face has been blurred because I'm weird about putting pictures of myself onto the internet for just anybody to see. I guess it kinda takes away from the effect but...I don't have a mannequin or anything so that's the best I can give.
