I've found another way to possibly get Linux onto this laptop. It involves Grub, Linux kernels and network installations. So far so good, actually. This is a lot farther than I've gotten with the other methods. Right now though, it refuses to resize my Windows partition. The spare CD drive was a bust. Thanks anyway, ND. The thing didn't fit and had a different connector. I'm not sure what to do with the laptop at this point.

*sigh* I think I fried my laptop's floppy drive yesterday. It stopped booting from the drive last night, and it stopped being able to read the disk in Windows. The laptop is coming very close to being a doorstop. Perhaps Ninjadebugger's spare drive can save it.

Help me, Ninjadebugger! You're my only hope. *static*
