Last night, consumed with heat (I refuse to buy an AC), I climbed onto my fire escape for a little air and a refreshing glass of bourbon lemonade. To my delight, my zucchini were flourishing. See, after several weeks of urban gardening, I concluded that indoors wasn't the best course of action, thus relocated two heavy garden bins onto the fire escape for more sunlight. Sadly, I had to replant because all the sprouts had withered, so I experimented by planting a preliminary round of three zucchini seeds. Worked! After just two weeks they are looking goooooood.
Bolstered by this positive turn of events, I seeded climbing cucumbers, tomatoes, romaine lettuce, and rainbow swiss chard. I also transfered my tiny red pepper plant to one of the bins. I really should build a cage to keep squirrels out, but 1) they're evil and smart and 2) I kind of like the idea of chance and survival, as played out in this tiny environment.
Can't even sit still for a drink!
