Matilda Village is an old rundown neighborhood that has long since been abandoned for a good thirty years from it's original owners.
In recent years it's been converted to resemble a small town in Iraq. A perfect training ground for US Marines who are to deploy to the region within a month or even in just a few weeks.
After donning my dish dash(man dress)and adjusting the turban on my head, I set out onto the streets collecting bottles for the villiage recycle. It's been three weeks since I shaved or had a haircut, and all resemblance of a Marine has long since disappeared.
Five times a day, a muslim prayer comes over the speakers at the mosque in the center of town. If I'm in town I stop what I'm doing, face the direction of the sound, go to my kness, and imitate that I am praying.
My name is Hamid Al Khapon. For the moment my character can speak broken English when dealing with the Marines, but I'm working on my Arabic to make the situation more realistic for the soldiers.
My family the Al Khapon's are friendly to the coalition by day, but at night we become insurgents and do drive by shootings, throw smoke grenades at the US base. We also plant IED's on the roads as well using the cover of darkness to get away.
We hide what we use on them after we're done. Our house constanly gets searched, and I have been arrested three times on suspcion, but I've been set free when their search didn't find anything.
It's all an act of course and actually quite fun to do. I did become a part of the ING(Iraqi National Guard) when the history channel showed up to record footage for an upcoming series on what we do here. My character has been killed once, after being betrayed by one of my own ING police members being falsy accused of setting an IED that wiped out both ING and Marines. With the camera rolling I am executed by the ING. That was cool.... :)
The next week after that, I play an insurgent barricaded with three others waiting to ambush a Marine squad. There is a total of about 12 engagements a day. The patrols enter the house and we open up with semrounds on them. There is fifteen of them and only four of us but we give em hell.
We try to stay away from the windows once our postion has been given away. Once that happens four SAW machine gunners on on the opposite side of the road give us a continuing volley, and the paint from their semrounds colors our house blue. Sometimes we miracously kill them all, but almost always we get wiped out. I always make sure I get at least three confirmed kills with each scenario. The last engagement I managed to sneak around and kill all the SAW gunners shooting them all twice in the back.
My flak protected my chest which thankfully most of the rounds hit. However I was shot once in each leg, one in the shoulder, and my hands got shot too. One Marine shot me in the ass when I was down.
...
That stung, and really pissed me off. I rolled over and shot him twice. That made me feel a little better.
Bastard....
