well obviously im not going to mad at you Nathaniel, and what im about to say is not ment to offend anyone. first of all i DO believe it is wrong mainly because in the bible God says it wrong and im a firm believer of what God says. also marriage was specially designed for a man and woman, ever notice thier private parts? it isnt natural for girls and girls to have sex, and it isnt natural for guys and guys to have sex, our bodies werent designed that way, thats why the same sex cant naturally have children together. I know the whol argument is that "love is love" and by making gay marriages illegal we are taking away someones right to love someone, but seriously whats next? pretty soon men are going to want to marry thier nieces, and MOTHERS are going to want to marry thier DAUGHTERS. and we look at that and say "eww thats sick and wrong" but 50 years ago thats what people said about gay marriages, but now the society accepts it. so in 50 years is it going to be okay for a man to marry his son??? "love is love" right? and then after ( ... )

9. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

note the extreme sarcasm.

yes im aware of that, but people will argue that it doesnt matter because they are "in love" and we shouldnt take away thier rights to love each other. thats all im saying. its like the illegal thing...illegals and california can get drivers licenses and jobs and they can vote, but they arent even citizens, doesnt that seem a little backwards and strange? the world is legalizing crazy things that dont make sense, so who knows whats next?

So I don't fit into God's scheme cos I am gay?

emeraldinhereye March 1 2004, 11:02:21 UTC
no thats not what it means, God loves you just as much as he loves me or anyone else

But I shouldn't be allowed to get married cos my parts don't fit, in other words I can't procreate... right?

Does it have anything to do with procreation, or just simply the fact that someone I love doesn't have a penis?

So that's why it's ok for the US to deny me my right to marrying someone I love? To take away 1,062 privlages that a heterosexual couple are entitled to... because the bible says my love doesn't make sense?

I'm not a Christian. I am not a Catholic. I am a Deist, and from my understanding God is an all-knowing being who accepts people for what they are... but I am just not allowed to marry.

Luckily I like boys too.

im not trying to offend you or anyone else, nathaniel asked for our opinions and i gave mine. and Yes I do believe that God does say that it is wrong, and no its not wrong because the person you love does not have a penis, the reason why the person you love does not have a penis is because its wrong, you had it backwards. I do not have all the answers and I will never claim that I do

You didn't come off as judgemental.

I dont mean to be rude or for this to be an attack at you at all...but this is why i left the church... you do realize christianity isnt the only religion right? granted we believe were right based on faith its entirely possible that were not right, and reguardless of all that some religions believe its good to kill people so are those people right in doing so because their God says so? no...then why is it right to tell people they cant be married because our God said so....this country seems to have forgotten that the US was made to flee religious persicution now we still do it to this day without even thinking about it....does this bother anyone else? Your jump to marriage with animals is an obvious extreme as you said, and the difference between that and this is the animals wouldnt be giving their consent...and the difference between this and marrying a relative is this isnt causing harm, where interbreeding causes the children to have birth deffects... and as much as you tried to down play it, Love is love, and no offence but ( ... )

nope I dont hate you at all, in fact i love discussing things with you. and I do respect your opinion. First of all I wanted to apologize for whatever was done to turn you off from the church, and I want you to know that what im about to say is me being 100% honest and im aware that you probly wont agree with what im saying. I personly do not see christianity as a religion, and I know that maybe that saying has become somewhere cliche but i really dont. Christianity is believeing that Jesus Christ was the Messiah and having a personal relationship with him, what other religion offers that? and you made your comment about freedom of religion and that thats what our country was based on. our country was also based on christian principles, christian principles that state that marriage should be between a man a woman thats why 100 years ago the thought of gay marriages was obserd, it wasnt even something people took seriously it was too far fetched. Thats why im giving the animal example and the daughter with mother examples, right now ( ... )

Yay someone that debates rather than says no your stupid...people like you are far and few between...what turned me off to the church was that my dad is or was a pastor and i saw how the inner workings went on...its an ugly place and unfortunately it wasnt just his church, we went to many churchs and we were even on TBN (the christian tv station if you dont know) quite a few times and i realized they were all run the same...for a place thats bases so much of itself on acceptance they were some of the most judgemental people ive ever met...but dont get me wrong there is a huge difference between me giving up on God and me giving up on church...i have alot of personal issues with god, but i havent given up on him nore do i believe he has on me...I still stick to my point that an animal couldnt give its consent and that inner-breeding causes birth defects, but i understand the point your tryin to make... and your right, the country was made on christian values...but keep in mind the times, they were escaping religious persecution for the ( ... )
