Exams and Failures

We've been taking state exams. Stupid, annoying, torturous. The 6th grade kids are mixed in together with the ESL kids separate because they get extra time. Wisdom (who is not very wise) was in my room and at the very end of exam time, Theta and Wisdom had a knock down, drag out, fist fight. Both are formally suspended. I won't see Theta for a while now.

We're doing WW I now. I taught about the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Then I showed them part of a video. Michael said, "Hey, that's what we just read about!" Yes.

Our building is frequently used for various large district meetings because we have a large multipurpose space and a large parking lot. The bus drivers had a meeting the other day and as I was walking back to my room after dropping off my class for lunch I ran into the grandmother of Nick and Angela, former pre-K students. The grandmother, also Angela, is the one I gave the $500 to when the children's Christmas was burned up in a house fire when the grandfather who lived upstairs of the grandmother and children caused a fire by smoking and wearing oxygen. She looked great. Hair colored, much less care worn. The grandfather, from whom she was divorce, but still cared for because of his health issues, had since died. She said she was now a bus driver, the children were doing well in charter school, and life was good. Praise God!
