i need to get moving soon. but my dad txted last night to say they wouldn't be home until after 5pm today, so with a 4hr drive (with the horse float, plus an hour to get out to Paul's & attach it & see my pony for a quick cuddle) - well, i've still got plenty of time, don'tcha reckon>?

i posted this on the other forum i go to. you guys have all seen the pics tho.

(clearly, his best angle)

just wanted to make a quick post about my amazing, super brave & talented redhead.

two days in a row now we have ridden out and OFF THE PROPERTY, PAST THE BARKING CHARGING DOGS AND HORSEEATING FALLEN LOGS.:}

yesterday was a bit scary and he was very tense & gave me a few tb moments including some nifty prancy flashy dressage movements (haha) on the way home, and we discovered he is VERY good at going backwards at high speed away from teh horse-eating log, but we recovered and managed to get home unscathed.

today was EVEN BETTER.

we rode right to the other side of the pines and right around the back, past Roamer Park's back paddock and straight back to my own agistment. Princeton, you'll be pleased to read that i kept a firm outside rein the whole time.

oh oh, we even... TROTTED. omg. *is dead from excitement* lol. *#)

this is only the 3rd time we've ridden out on our own since he managed to dislodge me with some well timed bucking/rearing and airs above ground, this time last year. it's taken this long to get our confidence back.

i'm so happy with him, i'm almost GIDDY. even our flatwork sessions have direction and focus now and i am trying hard not to let him collapse with loose reins.

i *think* i'll be able to go out for rides soon with all the stockies who agist near me now - princeton, karijini, cwac, bellthebabe - that's YOU guys.

i did cheat & use a couple of drops of RRemedy for both of us to make the experience a bit less full on. i think it worked. looking forward to going out without it now... maybe i'll keep using it though!

oh, on saturday, he thought he was a real comedian by breaking out of his paddock and galloping all over the countryside. after FINALLY catching him we then spent the next 30mins (and last of the daylight) raking in the bloody divots he'd created all over the grass & limestone path. i tell ya, if a horse can be contrite, he CERTAINLY was... whatsmore, i didn't give up on the idea of riding, so he was saddled up and schooled IN THE DARK and he had to DEAL WITH IT, and he did, so i'm a very happy chappy.

yay for emotional redheads who challenge their owners! i can't believe how much i've learnt in the past year with him.

he LOVES my car. in fact, i have discovered several scratches that look suspiciously like BITE MARKS on the tray... he gets excited when he sees white utes, lol. that's cos only good things come out of white utes, such as carrots & other tasty morsels.

the penny dropping, riding, beejay
