!!!

yes.

the common ones i've grown up with are the Dugite (dew - gite) and the Tiger Snake. That site calls it the most dangerous, but i think that's because it's pretty common, pretty venomous and pretty aggressive. dugites tend to fuck off if you give them a chance. tigers tend to haunt a particular spot & stick around & don't like it if other creatures hangout there too. my dad used to catch snakes. i have this very vivid memory (which i discussed with my dad recently) of him catching a massive Tiger from underneath our outdoor toilet (common in old places here). it's belly was at least as thick as my arm - so pretty damn big. he put it in this really large jar and kept it on our dining table... that says a lot about animal conservation in the early 1980's. dinner guests were greeted with the site of this FURIOUS snake, trapped in a jar. he eventually killed it (put in the freezer) and now it's up on the "snake shelf" in our house, along with a whole bunch of other creepycrawlies. my grandpa used to do that too, so we've got animals even from the early 1900's. and RARE shit that you don't find in the wild (if at all) anymore. it's kinda gross, kinda intriguing.

i just googled this: http://www.outback-australia-travel-secrets.com/australian_venomous_snakes.html

7 out of 10 of the most deadly snakes in the world are from australia. !!!!!!!! fuck.

the author of that site is pretty good tho - i like the "alcohol is a significant factor in most snake bite incidents"

hahaha.
