Dear Yuletide Writer

Dec 19, 2008 23:55

First of all - thank you so very much for signing up for this challenge. This is my first year as a participant, so I am particularly excited to see what comes of it. :D

Tin Man
This is my newest fandom - I literally finished the series about two days before signing up for Yuletide, and the entire intervening time was spent reading fic and rewatching it. It's so addicting! It reminds me of when I first discovered the 10th Kingdom. I just got sucked into it so hard, because it's one of those familiar stories, but then they've changed it, and made it something completely new, and fresh, and awesome.

My request is, hopefully, simple. I really really love the dynamics between the four main characters, so anything with all of them in it (as friends! Or more in the case of Cain/DG, but that's because I have a weakness for them) is totally gravy. I can also sympathize with Azkadelia, although I would love to see someone actually try to deal with what must be substantial trauma instead of glossing over it. Not to the point of darkfic where everything is depressing, but maybe some sort of post-ending thing where we actually see how messed up they all are? I mean, really - Glitch was separated from his brain for quite a while (and wouldn't that reintroduction be fun), Cain was locked in an upright coffin for eight years, DG had her entire family and identity stolen from her twice, and Raw had to feel everyone's pain the entire time. Not so much fun.

But I ramble. Really, I don't need anything crazy in-depth or introspective - light fluffy friendship/relationship fun is also very awesome, as long as it is true to the characters.

The 10th Kingdom
You know how I mentioned this in the last explanation? Well, they have a lot in common, but less angst. :D This series also ended abruptly, and I really really want to see how Wolf handles New York City, his appetite, Virginia, and a kid all at once. Mostly because I love him when he's dysfunctional and busy and mooshy in love.

I would also like to hear about what's happening with Tony back in the Nine Kingdoms. He wasn't the most likable character ever, but I enjoyed him, and I hope he gets to build his bouncy castles for all the children that we never got to see over there.

Garth Nix - Abhorsen series
This series was probably the first series I ever really fangirled about. I just seriously love a good, strong female character, but I also love it when an author knows when to let her break down, get some support.

Plus, Garth Nix writes some wicked support cast - the Disreputable Dog and Mogget are two of my favorite characters, with Lirael and Sabriel tied for third. :D The only character I never warmed to (besides, of course, the evil ones) was Nick, so I would greatly appreciate a distinct lack of him.

But magical adventures, cleaning up the aftermath, a quiet day in the castle, a strange family reunion (how weird would it be to meet a sister you never knew you had and find out she's taking your son's place as heir? I mean, really?), etc.

30 Rock
All right, I know I keep saying "anything goes," but this time, yeah, anything. Cause you can get away with it! I mean, they've had fake Oprah and blackface and made up Olympic sports, and that was all in one episode.

So, as long as it remains as lighthearted and crazy as the show is, I am totally good. And a little bit of Jack/Liz, if you're inclined that way, never went awry, either. Imagine how much crazier it'd be!

ONE FINAL REQUEST: The one request I would like to make, which I hope does not interfere with your plans, O marvelous writer friend, is no dark/angsty fic. Drama is good, a little bit of angst, yup, I'm down with that. But I would like something good to come of it in the end.

But hooray! I am just so ridiculously excited to be receiving anything at all. :D:D:D I cannot wait to see what you have in store for me, and happy Yuletiding!

fic: yuletide!, life: christmas
