MAIN | PART 17

THE USUAL SUSPECTS
Else Z.

Remember how I said that I'd come back to the Hell House thing? (Funny name for a house, huh?)

It has to do with The Colt.

Crowley: Do you know how deep I could have buried this thing? There's no reason you, or anyone, should know this even exists at all. Except that I told you.
Sam: You told us.
Crowley: Rumors. Innuendo. Sent out on the grapevine.
--The Devil You Know

John: Back in 1835, when Halley’s comet was overhead, the same night those men died at the Alamo, they say Samuel Colt made a gun. A special gun. He made it for a hunter - a man like us, only on horseback. The story goes, he made 13 bullets. This hunter used the gun a half dozen times before he disappeared, the gun along with him. Somehow, Daniel got his hands on it. They say... They say this gun can kill anything.
--Dead Man's Blood

Dean: How long do we wait?
Sam: Long enough for the new story to spread and the legend to change. I figure by nightfall, iron rounds will work on the sucker.
Dean: Shweet.

[Sam and Dean invade the house later that night and Mordecai doesn't react to the special wrought iron rounds from their guns like they expected him to.]

Dean:  Didn't you post that B.S. story we gave you?
Ed: Of course we did.
Harry: Yeah, but then our server crashed.
Dean: So it didn't take?
Ed: Uhhhhh.
Dean: So these... these guns don't work?
--Hell House

The message that Crowley sent out on the grapevine, and then waited for, in the hopes that it 'took', was the legend of The Colt. It didn't have as much to do with the Colt itself as it did with what everyone would believe The Colt could do. It was the very same con as Sam and Dean tried to run in Texas.

It SHOULD HAVE worked. That was the PLAN.
BUT NOoooo.
Not enough of youuuu bleeved! *points twirly witchy finger at fandom*

Crowley: Damn. /awesome British accent
Lid: Bummer, dude. Good idea, though, trying to turn Lucifer's gun against him.

*shifty eyes* Um yeah, I said Lucifer's gun. That's my theory. That's how many generals there are in heaven and hell and if you wanted to start fresh, that would be the best way to do it. And as we know, sometimes people listen to the wrong angels. But I wonder if he actually meant that the Croatoan virus is Lucifer's gun, but then I thought, no, no, that would be too easy. /Moving on.

Death: I am more powerful than you can possibly process and I'm enslaved to a bratty child throwing a tantrum.
Dean: And you think I can unbind you?
Death: There's your ridiculous bravado again! No, of course you can't. But you can help me take the bullets out of Lucifer's gun.
--Two Minutes to Midnight
Hey! This is going to be a battle of wills again, isn't it? Just like in The End the first time!
*blinks at that paradox*
