I like photography as an art form, but I read somewhere, and I agree, that it is at its best when it is trying to do something else: August Sander's attempts to catalog the faces of the people of Germany, Walker Evens and the depression, Robert Maplethorpe's numinous and ethereal portraiture. French cheese isn't something I approach without fear. Many of them suffer from one or both of the cheese flavors I can't stand. The classic 'bleu' cheese and it's relatives taste moldy... like green fuzzy bread with butter on it. The other is the flavor in the soft cheeses like brie or neufchatel. We lost annother one. I seldom feel much for the loss of a single life, so many deaths happen just at random that no single person’s passing makes much of a difference.
