I’m single, I hate commercial holidays and I spent the day in NYC doing publishing stuff. Totally did not care…but today…different story.
Two projects hit 50k today…I know it’s silly, but I tend to think of 50k as my “safe” zone. I’ve never orphaned a project, except one, once it exceeded 50,000 words. And the one novel I dropped was pretty bad. I wrote about 3,500 words today, which is a very gratifying number to put down. I wish I could say more about my meetings with Rachel and editor Rose over the past few days, but unfortunately, it’s nothing I can chat to the interwebs about just yet. Soon.
So a good writing day, and a good day all around (cardio walk, nice dinner, nothing caught on fire), except I went to put in the last disc of Prison Break and what do I see? Netflix users will know…
A big motherfucking crack.
Netflix will replace it, and I still like them better than Blockbuster online, because Blockbuster is owned by crazy fundies, but for the love of sweet Superman, what the hell are y’all doing to these DVDs? Using them as ninja weapons? Coasters? Spare parts for the TARDIS? What? I just want to know if Michael and Lincoln manage to deus ex machina themselves over the wall, for chrissake, and I don’t even get that.
Man.
But in all seriousness, it’s been a good couple of days. 13 days left in my mad deathmarch to completion on Iron & Ice and Death Wish. I have a feeling I’m going to be pulling a few all-nighters at the end, but until the last 5 days, I’m content to go ahead at the 1k-a-day pace on both and not fry myself unnecessarily. March is going to be crazy with the Night Life release (March 4, yo! Buy it during release week if you haven’t already, and help your good friend Caitlin hit a few lists) and Norwescon, and 3 signings. Oh, and there’s now an Appearances page at my web site, for your browsing pleasure.
