Stop this whirlygig of fun!

I had an interesting weekend. Worked late on Friday to keep from having to work this weekend. I did have to come in briefly on Sunday (after deciding to put off running a gel till Monday) to clean up my bench for the film crew (I'll explain below) on Monday.

Saturday was glorious. I spent most of the day reading the first book in the latest Star Wars series, which is highly entertaining for several reasons, not the least of which is that everyone seems to be accidentally (or not so accidentally) trying to kill each other. (Also, Han shot first.) Then, I went to the BoDeans concert at Ravinia with aces_hi, her family, canyon_lady, and DancePunk. I took a wrong turn on the way there and we wound up sitting in an hours worth of traffic, so I was pretty pissy by the time we got there, but the yummy food aces_hi provided went a long way towards cheering me up. Then canyon_lady, DancePunk, and I went back to canyon_lady's place and I finally got to see the Shawshank Redemption all the way through. Good movie.

Sunday was a lot of work. I went to church, then briefly to lab (as I mentioned above), and then to aces_hi's place to help her pack, as the movers were coming to take her stuff today. (She's moving to St. Louis to start her surgery residence? residency? What's the right term?) I got there just after 1pm, and I think we called it quits around 7:30. But many people were there to help and almost everything got packed! Then some of us (me, aces_hi, canyon_lady, and dw_duck) headed up to Lincoln Part for sushi, but the restaurant was closing an hour before their website said they would. We ordered for takeout, which was going to take 45 minutes!, so we went over to Tarascas for one last giant margarita and some appetizers. We were pretty full after that, but we still had $100 worth of sushi waiting for us! We took it back to my place, and with additional help from DancePunk, managed to devour the whole tray! Then we left dw_duck to clean up (thank you!) and went to see a very late showing of Ocean's 13.

So, summer part III roundup to date, from best to worst:
-PotC: At World's End -- still easily the best one. It had it's flaws, yes, but I loved it.
-Spider-man 3 -- it had really bad moments and was really boring in the middle, but the end rocked.
-Ocean's 13 -- it was just ho-hum. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't all that interesting or funny. None of the original's charm. It didn't reach the lows of Spider-man, but it also didn't have the highs to stick with you, either, which is the only reason I'm listing it below Spider-man.
-Shrek the Third -- it pretty much sucked.

I'll have to watch the first two Bourne movies before I can see the third one of those.

So, of course, I was tired this morning. I slept in a bit, then rode the bike instead of going to the gym (mostly because I wanted to read more Star Wars). I also didn't want to get to work too early because of the film crew. Unfortunately, they were still here when I got in just after 11am.

This film crew, they were making a documentery for the guy who founded the Myelin Repair Foundation, one of the funding sources for the lab (that doesn't fund me, thankfully).

CretePostDoc wound up having to be on camera with her mutant because Whiner's mutant died over the weekend. :-( (His mice die before weaning.) They were threatening to come into my portion of the lab when I got there, to which I responded that if they did, I would have a sudden resolute and unyielding need to go get coffee. Fortunately, they didn't bother me and now they're gone. Yay! I really don't need my current posterior recorded for posterity, if you know what I mean.

So now, to work. And coffee...I still need coffee...
