I used to date someone who was obsessed with Gulden's. I don't know if I've ever seen someone go through a jar of mustard so quickly, actually, as he did w/ that stuff.

I love their little bottles. Never seen the dill one, but I will definitely keep an eye out for it! Their bottles are always perfect for making vinaigrettes in, too.

Interesting. I've never been too into Dijon, unless it's for something really, really specific, but stone grounds I find nearly impossible to resist.

I love mustard, and I have a white wine mustard I make every year for Thanksgiving. I'll look it up. One of my sisters brought a mustard made from Guinness Stout that was one of the best damn things I ever tasted! I'd love to experiment with stout or porter to make a mustard.

Oh, if you find the recipe, I'd love to try it. Do you make it with seeds or powder?

Oh, I bet that Guinness one was delicious. I don't like to drink it, but I like it in recipes (like ice cream. Oh yum).

I've heard of putting a scoop of vanilla ice cream in a glass of Guinness, is that what you're talking about? That does sound yummy, and worth the calories.

At that chain of Irish pubs, Fado, they serve homemade Guinness ice cream. It's not overwhelming with the beer flavour, but you can definitely tell it's there. It's been a while since I was last there, but I remember that you could get it with the brownie how it's supposed to come, or you could just get the scoop of ice cream.

Their fish and chips were always really good too.

I love mustard with horseradish in it. Well, any spread with horseradish in it, really.

I also like Dijon mustard. I'm not really a fan of regular yellow mustard. I've never made my own condiments.

I like making my own condiments, though I'm really, really hit or miss with the success. The time I made my own horseradish was a definite failure; I'm still convinced I nearly killed myself doing so.

It's just not something I think about. I have to set aside extra time, patience, and planning to try to make things like my own bread and even dinner some days, that making condiments is just one step too much for me right now. Maybe when the kiddo is in school. ;)

Yeah, can't say I blame ya. Ketchup, I think, is the one that takes the longest to make. Oh, wait that's not true. Worchestershire takes the longest, unless you're using homemade Worchestershire for homemade ketchup. Then the ketchup takes the longest.

There's no way I'd go through that kind of work if I had a kid and didn't have a really, really good reason to be making them myself.

ETA: Actually, I only go through that kind of work for mustard anymore. Because with mustard, it's not really work, the way I've done it. It's: toss some shit together, come back in a couple days, pulse in blender, stick in jar.

I love mustard not wisely but too well. And I love most kinds of mustard, though my favorites are stone-ground, spicy brown, and horseradish. I have the great privilege of living near the world's only Mustard Museum, so I get to try wacky mustards periodically.

I would love to live near the Mustard Museum! I always order from them when I'm having trouble finding the specific mustards I'm looking for locally. They have EVERYTHING!!

I like Olde Cape Cod Cranberry mustard. They carry it at Hannaford and other places.

Is Hannaford a grocery store? I've never had cranberry mustard before, but I'm told it's awesome on turkey sandwiches and the like.
