PRESENTS!!

Seriously, my Christmas presents from me just arrived. The girls and I were watching Pirates 3 when the UPS guy showed up with my bed and my new camera. Yay! Not gonna set up the bed tonight, too tired, and I have to bake a pumpkin cheesecake for the holiday luncheon tomorrow. That will likely happen this weekend when the girls are at Brian's, so I can enjoy it for the first time by myself. I know the girls will want to sleep in it as soon as they can at least once. Anyway, I got myself a lovely queen sized cherry storage bed, 3 drawers on either side. I ordered the headboard too, but that's coming separately, because I thought I had ordered all 3 pieces (bed, headboard and footboard), but I had only ordered the bed, so a couple of days later when I noticed that there was only one tem on the shipping list I fixed it. Decided not to order the footboard, well, it's not really a footboard, it's actually like a bench with shelves. I decided that it wouldn't actually fit in my room that way, so I'm kinda glad I didn't order it in the first place. I also got a Nikon digital camera, 7mp. It's not a bad little camera, I'll post some of the pictures later on. Later I'll be getting a new mattress, but right now my full is going to look slightly silly on the queen platform.

Anyway, the reasons behind my splurging: A couple of weeks ago I applied for the military star card, which is a credit card that can be used at the Army Air Force Exchange, or AAFES, or PX, or BX or Naval Exchange (those of you who have been in the military know what I'm talking about), whatever you want to call it. AAFES kind of fucking rocks, by the way. For those of you with no military background, it's like a department store. Actually, it's kind of become more like a mall. You can get ANYTHING at AAFES; on some installations they even sell cars. So anyway, you can also order stuff from the AAFES website from any of the dealers that have shops in the malls. Lots of stuff. I figured I'd get a $500 card that I could use if I forget stuff when I go down to Fairfield for drill. What I got was a $3,500.00 credit limit. Holy crap. I have to be seriously careful, or I'll be in debt up to my ass. I was seriously tempted to get a gorgeous sectional with a queen sleeper and chaise for $1,999.00. Anyway, at AAFES, there is no tax, which rocks in itself. Also, during the holiday season there are no standard shipping costs. That means that I bought a kickass bed for $349, and because it is oversized I paid $25 for shipping. Um, rock? I also picked up a couple more things for the girls for Christmas. They're getting their own cameras so they won't break mine, they had some pretty cool kids cameras wit different colored faces they can snap on and off, for $35, I'm sure the quality won't be fabulous, but it can't be worse than the 110 camera that I had at that age. I also got each of them an MP3 player for about the same price that I could have gotten one on Black Friday. They're 2g, and pretty rockin', actually. I also got my dad a balsa wood dc3 model that he can build, which is super cool, and will give his lazy retired ass something to do, and for my mom I ordered a pretty, a lantern with a lighthouse scene inside. My mom is a lighthouse junky, seriously, you should see her house. Unfortunately when I checked the shipping information I found out it was out of stock, that pissed me off a bit. So it's on back order. It's not that bad, though because mom and dad won't be here until late January. Anyway, I will be sleeping a helluva lot better soon, and the cats won't be able to get under the bed any more. Yay!
