it didn't tell me much but it did give me a chance to look just a bit deeper at what i thought i already knew opening the defined world a tiny bit and letting possibility shine through

it comes relentless, unforgiving. it presses into me and soon i am drowning disappearing under curtains of sweat which cocoon me away from the day and i sink into the ruthless heat of summer.
my glimmer has worn, rubbed clean of golden shine that i can't quite remember. things have faded to grey, reflecting tarnished images dulling memories and leaving the staining, metallic sting on my tongue.
i am lost today, horizon always behind me. i can't turn to see anything but the dark.
