Oneword: Going

Going
oneword.com - one word, so little time.

so here we are. again.

let's not compare ourselves to where we were. and for a moment, let's forget where we are going. let's just stand here at the edge of town, where farmland begins. here, where we can only see patterns of corn fields repeating into the horizon. here, where we look out to what very well may be the end of the earth.

let's be here, in this moment, before we forget to love each other. before we lose ourselves in the corn fields' similar repetition. before the farms are swallowed in the concrete of westward development and we slip slowly into complacency, followed by the metallic sting of anger and resentment. before we forget each other's laugh and only feel the tight grip of death wrapped around the throat of our young marriage.

here, where i love you and you love me, and there is nothing more than this moment. the future becomes the present too quickly.

i have to say, i rarely ever access my lost affection of the Ex, and when i do i avoid writing about it. i wish i knew why the word "going" flashed such a particular image in my head, of the new SuperSaver grocery store on the west side of Omaha at sunset, looking over the last standing cornfield that would soon be eaten up by apartment complexes.

i loved him. i miss him. and it still hurts.

writing, oneword
