A Clue: No!

Joey got me hooked on the new(er) Robin Hood series from the BBC recently. As usual I had no interest in even giving it a chance because I figured it was some shitty teeny-bopper remake that would employ songs by Imogen Heap to instill drama and have a cast, half replaced by dumb blonds, all running around in their underwear. You know, a totally pop culture, Americanized Robin Hood.

But, it's the BBC and the English aren't half as annoying as Americans and I LOVE the show. Sure, it's somewhat predictable and just like 'Star Trek: Voyager', everything always gets wrapped up nice and neatly before the end of the show. The people you do expect to die do, and the ones you expect to live do. But, it's a lot of fun in between and Jonas Armstrong's Robin Hood is utterly charming. And, the Sheriff is hilarious.

They even squeeze in some competent drama and love stories without the use of some crap EMO song in the background. It's just a totally enjoyable experience. And Series 2, which I am in the middle of right now, has somewhat heavier tones than the first making it that much more compelling. And, the score. I LOVE the score to this show. I listen to it almost non-stop on my commutes during the week. The opening theme is infectious and the Robin/Marion theme is better than a lot of stuff on big budget film scores I have.

Even some of the stuff I was ify about initially; like the introduction of a female Saracen character has grown on me because the show has such a fun nature to it it's hard to be critical. And, well... most of the actors are damned cute.
