Two weeks off (nearly) and back to work. One co-worker contracted COVID and is now recovered. One co-worker had a heart attack and is recovering.

These things make my peaceful, if not greatly productive, vacation look good.

The last day of vacation has been spent cleaning up various bits and pieces that need to be handled, like cleaning up the snowfall on the driveway and sidewalks. The electric starter on the snowblower didn't work, so now I need to investigate whether it was actually getting power. Happily, it started on the third pull of the cord. :)

Happy New Year!

Today is the next-to-last day of my vacation and there are still *way* too many things that aren't done the way that they should be. But I continue to work on moving the pile.

I did not finish all of the things that I might have hoped to on my vacation. On the other hand, I made a lot of progress. If I take a few evenings and keep rolling the ball uphill, I may yet get them done.

Still didn't get a chance to try out the new mic, though. :)

There was eating. And there was cleaning. And there was even a little bit of album mixing. And some TV.

These are all good things.

Tomorrow, we'll see what happens. The only thing that is firmly on the schedule is a Cubs game.

Oh, and getting a new mic for the studio. :)

Tomorrow is the last day at work before I take a week off.

All I have to do is finish up what needs to be finished up first. Which is a very small subset of all of the things that *might* be finished, so I think I'll be ok. :)

Wow! Two actual weeks off from work. Sadly, I didn't get accomplished nearly as much as I might have hoped to. The best laid plans of mice and men, I think...

But I did manage to upgrade two computers: my home office desktop (which went swimmingly) and the studio desktop (which went about as badly as it could and come out running in the end). ( Read more... )

In what should not have been a surprise for anyone who has been following our narrative, I found myself back at work on Sunday evening, helping straighten out yet another mess. The good news is that it was pretty easy to sort out once diagnosed.

I have checked in the preliminary more-or-less working version of the code for the project that I've been working on at work.

It is now time for Christmas vacation. :)

And we're back from a couple of days up at the Great Wolf Lodge in Gurnee. This facility is comparable in many ways to the one in the Dells, but much closer. The two big problems were that there was no hot tub (which was a comparatively minor problem) and that Katie was apparently allergic to whatever chemicals they were using to keep the water ( Read more... )
