I took a load of laundry to the basement today and figured I would spend a bit of time in the studio today looking at some Cubase features and seeing if I could learn a few things. I learned a few things, but they weren't what I intended to learn.

I am downloading and installing the latest updates on the recording computer. A bit of investigation indicates that it is twelve years old, which explains why it seems to be slow. The computer in the studio is, if I recall correctly, at least seven years old and being a bit long in the tooth as well.

I found myself with some spare time at the computer today and did some work on a *very* long delayed project.

It's not nearly done, but now it's just a matter of repeating steps until it is.

Well, it took a while, but Cubase 10 is finally installed and configured so that it finds all of the existing plugins on this computer. I had to remember to update Melodyne too.

Phew.

It all started when Julie poured a glass of water into the keyboard drawer for the bedroom computer. Since this is the one that is primarily used by daisy_knotwise and Katie, it was a tragic event, because the keyboard became extremely unhappy (best read as "nonfunctional"). This morning, daisy_knotwise put Katie on the toilet when she woke up. Nothing happened, so after a bit, Gretchen got her down and put her pull up on. About fifteen minutes later, Katie announced that she had peed a bit in her pull up, so Gretchen put her back on the toilet and we were rewarded with a bowel movement that actually hit water ( Read more... )
