After I get finished writing the previous entry out, the administrative staff comes back from lunch. my direct boss, Jimmy, always listens to my ranting...and usually comes up with a decent solution. Anyway, I go off about all the previous, and he says the CEO brought it up at lunch, etc, how i keep him on hold too long, etc. wtf. Jimmy brought up that most of the people who complained have asked for Daineli.
OK so the truth comes out. Aparently, people are pissed when I transfer them to her....and if she doesn't answer her phone it's my fault? I'm sorry, but my job is to screen calls for the administrative staff, which include the CEO, his wife, Jimmy (CFO) the accountant, the president and the COO. not daineli. SO when someone asks for her, i'll just transfer the call to her extension. I dont know where she is, it isn't my fault if she isn't at her desk or doesn't feel like picking up the line. I extend nothing but professional courteousy to everyone who calls in (with exception to sales calls--- if you can't tell me the first AND last name of who you are trying ot reach, i'm assuming you dont know them and you dont know the company)
anyway...sometimes i'm even a nice person and will remember that Daineli went into so-in-so's office, so i'll ring over there and let her know she has a call on line #. Is it my fault if she decides not to pick it up? How can I keep track of that, am I supposed to continously harass her to pick up her phone? She is 32 years old, I shouldn't have to hold her hand when she needs to take a call. Other times, i'll tell her she has a call on the line, she'll ask who it is. I'll tell her i dont know, because i'm not supposed to screen her calls! so then again, she decides not to take the call.
so to recap, people are only complaining when they ask for Daineli, and they blame ME. Like I said, the other half of the office gives glowing reports about me and how polite and nice and sweet I am on the phone. SO what doesn't add up here? Daineli. that's right. once again, we are pitted against eachother...right when we were getting back on good terms.
Jimmy said we'd resolve this today, i'm assuming after they get out of the meeting they are stuck in now. I just hate being blamed for something...and not knowing how to resolve it-- gee maybe because it's not my fault!
