See it does take me a week to post about anything here, if I post about it at all.
With the snowstorm heading towards the east coast, last Tuesday night-Wed we had a huge snowstorm. First it rained most of Tuesday, and then it turned into wet, heavy snow. We received about 6-7 inches in some spots.
I had to drive through the snow, and the biggest problem wasn't the depth of the snow, but the fact it was heavy and wet and thick. It was piling up on trees so much they were bowing down and created this heavy white canopy above. Every few minutes, a wire or transformer would pop in the distance with a bright blue or pink flash, and sometimes a loud bang, like dynamite going off.
Trees fell down all over. I saw one that was almost across an entire 4 lane road and had crushed two cars. One tree also blocked a residential street. Another one blocked half of a dead-end circle. Down one 2-lane road there were a tree one one side and then one on the other and the snow plows had just snaked between them.
They were good at keeping main roads plowed but I was stuck a few times going down streets I should have avoided. Luckily I was able to dig myself out or get pushed out. Once I was in parking lot at the bottom of a small hill and couldn't get up the hill, and a guy plowing the complex plowed a way out for me.
I ended up only having to skip two dirt roads that weren't plowed, and skipped the last neighborhood where I got stuck and had to be pushed out, and then just gave up. But most of the night was uneventful. Still, all that white snow bowing down trees and making tree snow tunnels looked nice.
