I damaged one of my winter tires. I should have replaced them a while ago since it's no longer winter, but didn't really have the money, and they still worked fine.
I went to the tire store, and sure enough they didn't have a replacement. I would have to get a summer or all-season tire. And they refused to just replace the ONE tire, or just TWO tires. I had to get all 4 tires or none at all. This was due to liability. They claim having mixed snow/all-season/summer tires on one car is dangerous, but I have my doubts. They'd rather just save their own asses at my expense. They could have put the better traction tires on the back and I'd be fine.
So I had to buy 4 tires at $275, which was about how much I was able to talk them down (Better than the $500 for the snow tires). I should have just walked out and looked at other places, I may have been able to save even more money.
When I checked my bank account I found I didn't have enough money for my rent check, and I had to transfer money from my savings account. That account keeps shrinking, rather than growing.
While looking over my bank account I figured out why.
Last month, I had paid $400 in student loans. Normally it's $200 and I'm trying to get that reduced as well. But I was behind in the loans and constantly delinquent, so I wanted to catch up and make my loan balance concurrent. And then another $100 at the beginning of the month.
Add to that $150 in taxes, $150 in the two conventions I went to, auto repairs (which totaled $700 or more in March, due to the door damage), $100 in bills, and other expenses, and I spent so much money the past two months that it's no wonder the tire purchase put me in the red briefly.
What I need to do is cut back on my spending now. Make a budget. Get the fucking student loan companies off my god damn back.
