DONE! or Icon Copyright....

I am finally, finally done with TIG welding. Now I have until the beginning of July to do stick welding, MIG welding, and gas cutting. >.<

I checked with financial aid, and I'm getting, after financial aid paid off my classes, all of $100 dollars. This is after books and supplies cost me over $150 dollars. I expect to get more dammit.

Also, for some reason, unemployment is not sending me a check so I have to call them up tomorrow and find out why.

I'm a member of several LJ icon communities so I can post my own icons, and I've noticed that a lot of people say "Icons are not bases unless labeled as such". I assume that means you can't use the icon and put text on it or something.

That I don't even fucking get. I take your icon and put text on it... why should it matter as long as I quote you as the original creator. Or is that the problem, where once I put text on the icon, I can claim it as my own?

Honestly, I send my icons out and don't even give a shit what happens to them afterwords. I'm happy if someone else actually uses it, no matter how they use it. If they alter it and claim it as their own, odds are I'm not going to find out. I'm just thrilled that someone actually likes my work enough that they're using it. It makes me overjoyed to see someone using an image I created in Photoshop years after I created it.

In any case, if the icon is created from an anime, then it's the copyright of the anime company and not the person who created the icon. If it's original art, it's the copyright of the artist, not the icon maker. The creator of the icon has no legal claim on that icon.
