TGS and Autumn Equinox

Sep 18, 2005 00:30

On Friday I went to Tokyo Game Show, and while it was fun, it's definitely smaller than E3, as I was able to see everything I wanted in only one day. It was mostly worth it, even though PS3 wasn't playable :( I did get to play some good stuff though, and man was there a tonne of stuff for mobile phones. That night I also started to pack / try to figure out how to tetris all the crap I've bought into my luggage.

Saturday I mostly stuck around Ueno and saw some great houses and also checked out the cemetery. Also did some 2nd last minute shopping in the market and found a store specializing in Okinawa stuff, so I bought yet another CD. It's also Autumn Equinox this weekend, so there are celebrations at the shrines and small parades in the street where groups of people carry these huge things around and chant. There are also boom-boxes playing traditional music all over the place. I followed some of the marchers and checked out the mini carnival at Nezu Shrine a few streets over from the ryokan, then headed back and there were people dancing to a drummer right outside here. Definitely interesting.

Today I just bought a few odds n ends and am finishing packing before I go out tonight for sake with Nakamura and Kanashiro from work. Then tomorrow morning I check out and fly home...
