Weekend update

May 16, 2005 01:29

So I had my flight out of Toronto at 1pm on Friday (sorry Z - glad we could chat though), and didn't get to the hotel until almost 9pm est so I was pretty bagged, but managed to explore the area here a bit - staying closer to downtown than last time and there's lots around here (just came back from the joy of my first fatburger which was hyped by the Gardena people I know through work last fall and is only a 10min walk away.

On saturday I hit Little Tokyo, but there wasn't anything I needed to have, but I did go to the Japanese American National Museum, which was closed on the only day I had available last year. There was a lecture series happening so I stuck around for that (had one of the guys from jazz/new age band Hiroshima that I used to flog at HMV - heh) and I was talking to some people after the talk and I was saying how Canada has a similar history with Japanese internment etc. and one of the people ended up being the contributor of a chapter on Canada in this book, which I'll check out, since there's so little information about it. Also went to the Museum of Contemporary Art to see the Visual Music installation, which had some good historical stuff, but had hardly anything from the 80's on (no demo scene stuff or interactive/gaming at all) *sigh* So I showed the dude there Lumines and blew his mind - lol!

Sunday I got my appetite back (lost to heat and jetlag) and actually ate 3 meals. Also checked out the Museum of Neon Art, which has some old signage and also some really wicked stuff that's a kind of plasma sculpture - awesome. Now just hanging out and making plans for tomorrow's press conferences (even though E3 doesn't really start until wed I have most of tomorrow and tuesday full already). Might also hook up with some folks from Nelvana who are down here too - should be cool.

I'll probably be offline a couple of days ($10 a day, but at least it's a T1) since I'll be out all day, but will likely update midweek with some pics from the press conferences and show floor for those that care. Can't wait to see some PS3 ;)
