Mitsuki Takahashi is nothing if not prompt- when she says she'll be there within the hour, she'll probably wind up there within thirty minutes. It's just one of those weird businesswoman tics she's developed ( Read more... )

Gwen's waiting in the lobby when Mitsuki arrives, just as she said she would be. She's been standing in front of the reception desk for some time now, just waiting, and as she sees the angel stepping through the doors (or entryway, as the case may be), she pushes herself forward, moving forward.

"Mitsuki?" Not that she's expecting anyone else today, but it seems safest to ask. That, and she doesn't know what else to say to her. Apologies don't seem to cover it.

Mitsuki nods soberly. "I take it you're Gwen Cooper ( ... )

Gwen shakes her head, stopping a short distance from Mitsuki. "No, that's just fine. It's alright. If you'd like..." She pauses, pressing her lips together, and looks down. "PC Cooper's body as well... We can keep storing it here if not."

Looking up again, she doesn't quite meet Mitsuki's eyes, but searches her face quietly before adding, "I am sorry. For... our part of what happened here." And this is the strange world she finds herself in, where someone orders her assassination and she ends up apologizing.

Mitsuki moves her hand away from her a face and heaves a small, relieved sigh. Maybe this won't be difficult at all. "No, it's fine. We can take it." She doesn't really want to know where they're keeping the bodies as morbid as that sounds. This place probably wasn't built to contain a morgue.

"For what it's worth, I'm sorry it came to that. If it were my choice, I never would have sent those kids in here in the first place." The words are out before she can stop herself. Loud-mouthed Mitsuki who always states her opinion when it won't get her killed.

Well, now that she's started, might as well keep going.

"But it wasn't my choice. That doesn't change it, and it was a foolish mistake and we probably deserve to pay for it. Baka wa shinanakya naoranai." Only death will cure a fool.

That doesn't mean she thinks they were right to kill them all, but neither of them are right and both sides deserve apologies and the admittance of their wrongs.

Jack is lurking on the balcony.

In the same spot, in fact, from which he opened the attack, albeit further from the railing and closer to the door and the rear wall. He's sitting on the floor, back to the wall, elbows resting on his knees and hands clasped beneath his nose. He's in a position where he can't see the lobby and people in the lobby or first floor can't see him, but if Gwen is going to walk up the stairs when all this is over rather than taking the elevator, she'll pass by him.

Which is what he's hoping for.

Gwen's gotten used to taking the stairs in this building - after what happened with Owen, she doesn't quite trust the elevators. Silly, but it doesn't usually hurt to take the stairs when most of the rooms they use are only on the first or second floor.

She slows down as she notices Jack, and frowns a little. "...Jack?" The are you alright? is implied.

Jack stands up when she reaches the balcony, giving her a thin smile. In reality he's having a bit of trouble remembering what he's been doing for the last hour, ever since the Doctor left - but knowing the state he was in, it's more than possible he just blanked it out. He's feeling a bit better, anyway, not quite so much like there's nothing in his chest but gravity.

"Gwen," he greets. "A while ago - after I brought in Toshiko - Elashte pulled me aside to talk about... this." And she should know what this he means. "He thought that, you know, a few centuries' experience working with disorders of the mind, he might be able to unearth a root cause. I was going to sit down with him when I got the note about the archangels and ran over here. Bad timing all around, I guess."

He shrugs. There's an easy confidence to his voice, despite the fact that he's essentially talking about treatments for an ailment he effectively asked her to kill him for not so long ago.

"I'm heading back there, if nothing immediately needs me."

She eyes him for a moment, because as cheerful as he is, she hasn't forgotten the conversation they had a few hours ago, or the way the Doctor looked when he showed up in that office. She doesn't trust Jack's apparent good moods at a time like this. But she nods, after a moment, unable to quite manage a smile.

"When will you be back?" She's not going to ask if he's coming back. There's no point in him staying away now, and she doesn't want to give him the choice.
