There are a variety of people, in a variety of places, doing a variety of things. Specifics? Well, why not.
Alanna, after a few days spent locked alone in her room, is in the cafeteria, eating. Because spontaneously fasting for no real reason will make a person hungry, if you didn't know. She's tucked herself into a quiet corner and seems both relaxed and pretty occupied with the heaping plate, but that doesn't mean she's not also watching people as they pass. It's (a semi-paranoid and possibly unbreakable) habit.
Annora is in the lobby, having taken over a chair and a television. Why she's not in her own room is debatable, but most likely just a flight of fancy. Or else she locked the key inside and doesn't want to admit it. Jury's still out on that one. Either way, lobby it is. The television is flipping through channels rapidly enough that you can't really tell what's on anything, unless you're paying a lot of attention.
Mark is outside, because sometimes, he just needs to be outside. It's a good enough reason. Anyway, outside right now means underneath a tree in Grant Park, paying no attention to anything outside his own head (and only half of what's inside it at that), and trying without hope to convince his brain that an actual plot would be a much better place to start a script than stray lines, really.
And for a complete change of location, Jacob is lounging at the Main Gauche. In one of the sunrooms, more specifically, and with a book he's not really reading. Mostly, he's trying to decide if he's bored enough to leave the complex or not. On the one hand, there's bound to be something interesting around. On the other, finding that something would require a little less laziness then he'd like right now.
All of the above are, of course, botherable, though with variable degrees of actual response.
