2010 End of the Year Survey

Dec 31, 2010 01:11

What did you do in 2010 that you'd never done before? I went on a roadtrip with my sister and I graduated from college.

Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I don't usually make resolutions.

Did anyone close to you give birth? Entirely too many people to list, but so many gorgeous babies.

Did anyone close to you die? Thankfully, no.

What countries did you visit? None..but I visited lots of states!

What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010? A full-time job with benefits, a new car, and possibly a house.

What dates from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
June 21 - My sister and I went to the Backstreet Boys concert in Kansas City and made some incredible friends. It also helped that we had backstage passes and got to meet the Boys.

July 21 - I walked into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter for the very first time and it's absolutely something I'll never forget. Every day of that week will always be memorable for me.

December 18 - I graduated with honors from Texas Tech University.

December 20 - I officially became certified to teach in the state of Texas.

What was your biggest achievement of the year? Graduating from Texas Tech University with honors and becoming certified to teach in the state of Texas are pretty much equal.

What was your biggest failure? Procrastinating and not always being as good of a friend as I could've been.

Did you suffer illness or injury? I had strep and a few colds, but that's about it.

What was the best thing you bought? My diploma frame; I'll keep it for the rest of my life and whenever I look at it I'll be reminded of the incredible 3 years I spent at Texas Tech.

Whose behavior merited celebration? My mom. She never fails to amaze me with her resilience and strength in the face of adversity.

Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? I would never let the behavior of others influence me enough to cause depression. But a large group of people's (who know who they are and therefore don't need to be named) behavior merits the use of the word appalled as does the behavior of a few people that I thought were my friends, and the behavior of one boy that shall not be named.

Where did most of your money go? Groceries and my summer vacations.

What did you get really, really, really excited about? The Backstreet Boys concert, the roadtrip to Disney World and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, seeing my friends at Infinitus, buying everything for LeakyCon, working for RupertGrint.net, student teaching, passing my certification tests, and graduating.

What songs/artists will always remind you of 2010? Backstreet Boys, Glee, Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls, Starkid and other wrock, and the Texas Tech Alma Mater.

Compared to this time last year, are you:
Happier or sadder?: I think I'm just about the same; though I'm more optimistic this year.
Thinner or fatter?: Thinner..and working on it! :)
Richer or poorer?: Poorer - but I'm okay with it because I did so many amazing things this year.

What do you wish you'd done more of? I wish I had gone out with my friends more...because I'm going to miss the college life now that it's over.

What do you wish you'd done less of? Worrying about the negative opinions of people that don't matter to me.

What are your favorite TV programs? Glee, Teen Mom, 16 and Pregnant, The Today Show, various reality shows..

Did you fall in love in 2010? Nope! I fell in like a few times though.

How many one night stands? Absolutely none.

Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? No, I don't hate anyone. My G'mommie always says "Hate in the heart spreads like a virus." Are there people I dislike? Yes.

What was your greatest musical discovery? I guess I'd have to say wrock.

What did you want and get? To go to the Backstreet Boys concert and meet them, to go to Disney World and WWoHP, to go to Infinitus, to graduate..

What did you want and not get? A new car and a full-time job with benefits.

What was your favorite film of this year? Deathly Hallows Part 1, Inception, and Toy Story 3.

What was the best book you read? "Room" by Emma Donaghue

What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I student taught my amazing kindergarteners and had a party with them and then came home to a little get together with some of my closest friends (and an epic Harry Potter cake!). I turned 22 this year. :)

What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Falling in love.

How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010? Teacher clothes! Haha.

What kept you sane? My sister and my incredible friends.

Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Rupert Grint, of course.

What political issue stirred you the most? Gay rights and the health care debate.

Who do you miss? My best friend (Katie), some people I'm no longer friends with, Brendan, my sister Kyndra, my grandma. It's a long list!

Who was the best new person you met?

Emma, Pluto, and Patrick - The other three members of the "fantastic four" (as Emma calls us) have really helped to keep me sane and they've made me laugh more times than I can even count. I'm so excited to meet Emma this summer - and I hope that we get to meet Pluto and Patrick soon too.

My cooperating teachers - They were both such incredible teachers and I learned a lot about what kind of teacher I want to be from them. I was definitely lucky to get place as such fantastic schools.

..do the Backstreet Boys count? Haha.

Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010: You can't slow down time; so enjoy each and every moment you have with the people you love. Remember to commit every experience worth looking back on to your memory..and take lots of pictures!

Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
"In such a short period we’ve made bonds that will last lifetimes.
So even though we’ve reached the end, it’s not over yet.
We’ll still have each other. All the friendships, and all the laughs.
Life’s a funny thing. It can present you with surprises around every corner.
No one knows what tomorrow will bring, but we can hope that it brings us all a little bit closer.

We have the power of choice.
We have the power to define our own future.
We merely have to step up to the plate and take hold of what we care for,
Not letting go of our dreams and wishes just because people tell us this all has a life span." - The Last Call/End of an Era Part 2 by Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls

memories, happy new year
