Mom took me to see the Chinese doctor and acupuncturist today. After much prodding (her) and squealing (me), she told me that I had three displaced vertebrae, an abnormal curve around my lumbar spine and a myriad of other ailments resulting mostly from my horrible sleep pattern (shoulder pains, headaches, neck pains, etc.). She then proceeded to prickle me with approximately a MILLION NEEDLES and basically put me through hell on earth. Oh the pain! It's enough to make one develop a fear of needles, methinks. Oh, and have I mentioned that I'm going back to see her tomorrow and after tomorrow? *tears*
I think this diagnosis ought to be (finally!) my wake-up call to adopt a more healthy lifestyle. All these years of going to bed at 2AM and never getting enough sleep is finally catching up to me. Add to that my progressive path towards ZERO exercise (oh, the joys of a desk job!)...well, this cannot possibly end well for me. (I think that I'm doing fairly okay on the food front, though I admit, I could eat about half of what I do on a daily basis in order to fulfill my nutritional requirements.)
I've always talked about doing yoga and my friends finally dragged me to a swimming pool during our Boston trip, so yoga and swimming it will be, from now on. (Or rather, as soon as I get my spine into working order.) And I guess that it wouldn't kill me to go to bed before midnight from time to time... I'll have to give up late-night Internet surfing and fanfics, but I suppose that it's all for a most justifiable cause.
(Man, growing up and getting old is HARD!)
i will be healthy...tomorrow,
i iz indisposed
