Heading "Home" for the Holidays...

Jun 03, 2011 01:43

Berwald was packing his very small suitcase. He had absolutely no warm clothes worth bringing to Finland. He dressed in his warmest sweatshirt and jeans and had every intention of buying a parka in the duty free airport shop when they landed. He'd shop for winter clothes once he got to Finland.

He was nervous, sure he had talked to Tino's family on ( Read more... )

The thankfully made it to the airport with time to spare to get through security and get to their gate without rushing.

And Berwald was relived at their first class seats once they boarded the plane. He would have no leg room troubles and the seats folded out flat for sleeping.

Berwald got the bags stowed away in the overhead compartments as Tino settled into the window seat with a sleeping Hana in her carrier in his lap.

she could not come out until they were at cruising altitude, then so long as she was on her leash she could cuddle on Tino's lap.

Once they were all seated, listened to the flight attendant go through her presentation, and released to watch whatever goofy in-flight movie was playing Tino got himself a devilish little smile on his face. "I was thinking." He said, playing with his fingers. "That I know it may be a little early. But I want to give you one of your Christmas Presents now, before we reach home." He grinned, the anticipation was killing him as it was! "Let me give it to you, please please please. I wanted to give it to you before getting on the plane but there was all the hullabaloo, and this is the perfect time." He pleaded, looking up at Berwald through his eye lashes. He had sworn an oath to only ever use this power for good and never for selfish reasons.

"Hand me my duffel bag and I'll get it for you." He couldn't grab it himself as Hana was on his lap, and having JUST ate the medicine laced treat, she wasn't yet asleep.

"You really are my own personal Santa. You don't have to buy me presents. You give me YOU, that's more than enough." Berwald said, but still standing to hand Tino his duffel and taking a drowsy Hana into his lap while Tino dug through his bag.

"You over value me." He reminded, pulling out a box wrapped in dark blue wrapping paper with white snow flacks against it. It was tied with a yellow ribbon. "Merry Christmas." He said, kissing Berwald's cheek as he handed the Jotunn the box.

Once the paper was ripped off (and Tino put it back in his bag so Hana didn't freak out and want to play with it in a last ditch groggy effort to stay awake) Tino grinned as Berwald pulled out a warm, three way winter jacket.

"I think I value you you just right for me." Berwald said as he unwrapped his gift.

"Aw TiTi, thank you, wow this is a nice coat." Berwald said putting it on to test the fit, it was perfect, Tino obviously had gotten his size from his closet.

Berwald leaned over to Kiss Tino in gratitude. "I love it, thank you askling." Berwald stood to return the duffel bag and coat back to the overhead compartment.

By this time Hana was giving off little tiny puppy snores... it was adorable.

"We should try to sleep too in a few hours, try to get on Finnish Time, it's 10 PM there now and we arrive at 9 AM."

"I had to order it online so I could get one in a 4x so it would fit your shoulders even with layers of clothes on under it. I went up two sizes from your shirt size." He grinned. Happy to have gotten Berwald something he could really enjoy and use for a long time.

"Yeah, hard to believe that we're leaving in the morning here and arriving in the morning there and it'll just be 14 hours." He said, grinning like an idiot because Berwald enjoyed his coat. He cuddled up with the little puppy, pushing his seat down into a laying position, even if he wasn't falling asleep yet, so he could rest their puppy baby on top of his head; her favorite perch.

"Sir, you have a floofy hat." Berwald chuckled, Hana loved snuggling up against Tino's head.

"I love my coat, thank you." Berwald leaned over the center console to kiss Tino's brow. Before he stretched out his chair himself and shut his eyes to try and get some sleep.

"Sleep well, I can't wait to see you in the morning." It had become his standard 'good night' for Berwald. He closed his eyes, reaching a hand up to pet the snoozing Hana and with his other hand he kissed his finger tips and proceed to place them on Berwald's cheek before settling down himself for the long flight over.

"Sweet Dreams Askling." Berwald said getting settled down for the long flight.

Sleeping was a good idea, it made time fly... before he knew it they knew it, the were approaching Helsinki and the Stewardess was waking everyone up to get ready for landing.

Tino stretched slightly. Hana was awake. Her medicine had worn off probably an hour or two before. But as was normal for her once she was settled on Tino's head, even if she woke up, she would remain perched there to protect the tiny biped. This was the one that snuck her table scraps after all. (The big daddy was a little more concerned with her weight and keeping her perfectly healthy. Her treats from him were usually designed for tiny puppy digestion... the treats from the tiny human were things like raw ground beef that Daddy didn't see hit the floor while the tiny one was cooking... Tino has his ways of spoiling.)

"G'morning... Literally." the Finn yawned as he picked the little dog up off his head and returned his chair to a seated position. "Oh we're almost home. Isi should be there to pick us up when we arrive." He smiled.

"And Hana is going to have to PEE bad when we land. Get her sweater on her, she's never felt the cold, she doesn't have a winter coat." Berwald said digging out the cute, yet warm and functional pink sweater that had pink rhinestones in the shape of a tiara on the back. The "Little Princess" had a nice thick fleece sweater to protect her from the very harsh climate she was no used to.

Berwald put his coat on, to get ready then buckled in for the last 15 minutes until landing.

"I'm going to get you a tom boy one one of these days Hana-Banana. Your Isi is trying to make you girly, but I know you're true nature you little mud monster." He said, getting said goofy little sweater on the dog. He knew she had to have one. Her fur was far too light for the winter weather. And even then, she was a little dog. They weren't supposed to spend more than 10 minutes outside in the cold. 15 minutes could send them into hypothermia. Nukka was old so he usually just hopped off the porch, did his business and rushed his old bones right back in! He was not going to be PLAYING in the snow. That was a young dog's game!

After she was suited up, Tino put her back in her carrier and buckled himself in for the last bit of the flight.

"She is a girl, I like her in Pink. When she's running around in our backyard you can play with her in the hose all you like and get muddy. But when visiting family, she's in her girl garb. I like her sweater, she cute in it." Berwald said as the plane landed on the tarmac.

They had arrived.

Tino just immaturely stuck his tongue out at his boyfriend as the flight attendant went through her exiting-the-plane-presentation. Once it was over and they were allowed to exit Tino scooped up their dog's carrier and reached for his duffel bag from the over hang. "Isi's probably already there. We just have to check through customs, get our remaining bags and find the really big hairy man with the cereal box cut open and 'Tino + Peikko' written on it. He'll probably be wearing some derpy disguise like a cap and big obnoxious sun glasses and weird clothes so people don't recognize him. For some reason he likes to play 007 when going out and about. I'm pretty sure no one's going to try to assassinate him though." Tino chuckled as he exited with his boyfriend.

"He's got a very high public opinion/approval rating I doubt it too. God I hate customs, here's another reason it's always a good idea to travel light internationally. Less for them to shift through." Berwald remarked as they inched their way through the line, passports out and ready.

It took about a half hour to clear customs and then they headed out toward the reception areas, looking for Tino's father.

"Oh look at that freak over there... that's my Isi." Tino laughed, face palming. The big man was wearing a Hawaiian shirt, a base ball cap, sun glasses, and was DANCING AROUND with the cardboard sign like one of those side walk advertisers. "Let's go stop him before he makes a bigger ass of himself." Tino laughed. Eino often took the chance while 'incognito' to behave silly and not worry about his image so much. After all. Some of the Eino Vainamoinen that the voters saw was more persona than himself. He couldn't act like a silly goober when giving speeches or going appearances, he had to look in control of himself and his situation. When the Hawaiian shirt went on, the silly Eino came out to goof off.

"Moi Moi isä, näemme teidät!" Tino teased as he ran up to his father and hugged him. Hana was groggy but going utterly ballistic in her confusion about this new place, the new smells and who this hairy fat man was!
