nice day

I had a great day today, despite its inauspicious start. I had been depressed on and off all week, and spurred by a conversation with Adam took myself out hiking alone on Wednesday. I had a fantastic time. I did a ~12 mile loop in the gorge at Eagle Creek. I fully expected it to be pouring, but it hardly rained at all. It was so nice to get out to nature and just be. I can't remember the last time I could hike at my own pace. That was nice. I averaged a consistent 3 mph, which I was pretty happy with considering I haven't been hiking in ages. Anyway, I really wanted to go again this weekend and was searching for someone to hike with. I was disappointed that I couldn't find anyone to go with, and didn't have the motivation to go alone. I ended up going to look at a house, which turned out to be a shithole.

Happily, the day took a got much nicer. Ian called me and I went to hang out with him and Shayna. Apparently, last night night they tried to return my call about hiking, but called the wrong number. They wanted to invite me to a party which sounds like it was pretty incredible. Too bad; would have liked to go. Anyway, I ended up spending the day with them. We biked to Sellwood Park to juggle and practice passing clubs. I also spun poi and ropedart and we played frisbee. I can almost do a meltdown with poi now. I met a couple of their housemates who were pretty cool, including this girl Amy who's in March 4th. We then went to dinner at Horse Brass, this cool English Pub on Belmont, where I got more buzzed off of one beer than I think I ever have before. I guess an empty stomach will do that to you. I like Rasputin Stout. We had some great conversation. I like them.

Goals for tomorrow: yoga and/or piano playing in the morning before going to work. Or going to the Japanese Garden with family if that actually materializes.

friends, hiking
