It was my first New Year in Mass in over 20 years - it started off well, but went down hill quickly, first when my Uncle Herb passed after a long illness and then when my grandmother became sick. So, right now I am persona non grata as far as my father is concerned. I know it is due to a combination of the brain trauma he received in the accident, and high ammonia levels (due to his heavy drinking for the last 50 years and liver damage). I qualify for a community block grant for up to $30,000 in home repairs. The main focus is bringing the house up to code and removing any asbestos and lead paint. I don't have any asbestos, but there is a ton of lead paint in the cellar and on the window frames in my sun-room.
